MEET AMY VISSER
Amy is a Registered Psychologist and Certified Teacher with over a decade of experience supporting children, youth, and families. Her dual background in psychology and education enables her to take a holistic and developmentally informed approach to mental health care. Amy specializes in working with children and their families. She supports those navigating challenges such as anxiety, trauma, and emotional regulation. She also works with neurodivergent children, including Autistic children and ADHDers, in ways that honour their unique ways of thinking, relating, and experiencing the world.
Amy integrates therapies such as EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and play-based approaches grounded in AutPlay Therapy to support regulation, resilience, and emotional connection. Her professional journey has included roles in public health, education, and community organizations, including work with British Columbia’s Ministry of Children and Family Development and Alberta Health Services. These experiences have deepened her understanding of human resilience and refined her warm, compassionate approach to therapy.
Originally from Calgary, Amy now lives in Sidney, British Columbia. She finds balance and joy through running, spending time outdoors, and parenting her two young children—who inspire her every day. Amy values authenticity, curiosity, and connection in her work with children and families.
