Meet Bill
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) in British Columbia and a member of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. My practice focuses on supporting children, youth, and families who are navigating emotional, behavioural, and relational challenges. I believe every young person deserves a safe and supportive space where they can feel understood, build resilience, and develop skills to manage the complexities of growing up. My approach to counselling is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in respect for each child and family’s unique story.
Over the course of my work, I have supported many children and adolescents who are facing complex or high-risk circumstances. This includes young people experiencing significant emotional distress, family disruption, behavioural challenges, and school-related difficulties. I recognize that these experiences can affect not only the individual child, but the entire family system. My goal is to provide a steady, supportive environment where young people can explore what they are going through and begin to develop healthier ways of coping and relating to others.
I also have experience working with neurodivergent children and youth, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and other forms of neurodivergence. I take a neurodiversity-affirming approach that recognizes neurological differences as natural variations in how people experience and interact with the world. In counselling, I aim to understand each young person’s strengths, interests, and sensory or communication needs, and to work with those qualities rather than against them.
Because children and adolescents often express themselves differently than adults, my sessions incorporate a range of developmentally appropriate ways to communicate and process experiences. In addition to conversation, I may include elements of play, creative expression, drawing, storytelling, and other interactive activities that help young people explore emotions and experiences in ways that feel natural and engaging. These approaches can make counselling more accessible while helping children and youth feel comfortable, understood, and empowered within the therapeutic space.
Working with families is an important part of my practice. I believe that meaningful and lasting change often occurs when caregivers are supported alongside their children. I collaborate with parents and guardians to strengthen communication, deepen understanding of their child’s needs, and develop practical strategies that support emotional wellbeing at home, school, and in everyday life.
My therapeutic work is informed by evidence-based approaches such as cognitive-behavioural therapy, attachment-informed perspectives, strengths-based practice, and trauma-informed care. I tailor these approaches to each child’s developmental stage, personality, and lived experience. Above all, I strive to create a counselling environment where young people feel safe enough to be themselves and supported enough to grow.
Supporting children, youth, and families through challenging periods of life is a responsibility I approach with care and respect. I remain committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice so that I can continue providing thoughtful, ethical, and responsive counselling services to the families I work with.
