Rita Rodriguez Bellizia is a Clinical Counsellor (RCC) offering counselling services for children, teens, and adults in Nanaimo and Duncan, BC. She brings a warm, trauma-informed, and neurodivergent-affirming approach to therapy, supporting clients navigating emotional challenges, life transitions, grief, trauma, and ADHD-related concerns.

Rita’s work is grounded in the belief that people thrive when they feel understood, respected, and supported in ways that honour how their minds and nervous systems work. She is especially passionate about supporting neurodivergent individuals, including those with ADHD, as well as immigrants and individuals who feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or uncertain about the future.

Her clinical approach is informed by Child-Centered Play Therapy and Schema Therapy, integrating emotion-focused, narrative, and systemic perspectives. This flexible and collaborative style allows Rita to tailor counselling to each client’s unique needs, strengths, and lived experiences.

Rita offers ADHD counselling for children, teens, and adults, supporting challenges such as emotional regulation, attention and focus difficulties, overwhelm, self-esteem concerns, and navigating school, work, or relationships. Her neurodivergent-affirming lens emphasizes understanding ADHD as a difference rather than a deficit, helping clients develop strategies that align with their strengths while fostering self-compassion and confidence.

With children and teens, Rita uses developmentally appropriate, relationship-based approaches, including play therapy, to help young clients express emotions, build coping skills, and feel safe exploring their inner world. With adults, she supports exploration of long-standing patterns, identity concerns, and life transitions, helping clients gain clarity, resilience, and emotional balance.

Rita holds a Master’s degree in Neuroscience from the University of Lethbridge and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She has completed graduate-level coursework in counselling psychology at Yorkville University and continues to expand her training in play therapy, schema therapy, narrative therapy, end-of-life care, and neurodivergent-affirming practices, including ongoing learning related to ADHD.

Originally from Mexico and now based on Vancouver Island, Rita offers bilingual counselling in English and Spanish, providing culturally responsive support for individuals and families. She offers counselling services in both Nanaimo and Duncan, BC.

Clients often seek Rita’s support for ADHD counselling, neurodivergence, trauma, grief, identity exploration, and major life transitions. She strives to create a therapeutic space that feels inclusive, affirming, and emotionally safe, where clients can better understand themselves and move toward meaningful growth.
