MEET JOHANNA
Johanna is a counselling student intern, ICF-certified coach, and lifelong learner who believes meaningful change happens through supportive relationships — with ourselves, our partners, our families, our communities, and the wider world around us. Her role is to offer a warm, respectful, and non-judgemental space where clients feel understood and accepted as they are.
Johanna brings 20 years of experience in human and social services supporting children, youth, adults, parents, caregivers, couples, and families. She works with clients experiencing anxiety, stress, low mood, grief, and life transitions, as well as relationship difficulties, family-of-origin concerns, parenting and coparenting challenges, low self-worth, and a desire for personal growth.
Her approach is collaborative and responsive to each client's goals, needs, and lived experience, drawing on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy, alongside attachment theory, family systems, and trauma-informed practice. Together with clients, she explores how experiences and relationships have shaped them, how patterns have developed, and how greater awareness can open new possibilities for connection and change.
With couples and families, Johanna helps people communicate more openly, navigate conflict and transitions, repair hurt, and build safer, more connected relationships — recognizing that every family is unique and may include chosen family and other meaningful support networks.
Johanna welcomes individuals, couples, and families of diverse genders, sexual orientations, relationship structures, abilities, cultures, faiths, and backgrounds, and her practice is affirming of trans, non-binary, Two-Spirit, gender-diverse, and neurodivergent clients. She acknowledges her place as a visitor on the traditional territory of the Quw'utsun' peoples and is committed to ongoing learning, listening, and respect for Indigenous self-determination.
Mindfulness, nature, spirituality, and Toltec wisdom have shaped both her personal and professional life, and — when meaningful to a client — these practices may be woven into the work.
Johanna is currently completing her Master's in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University with this practicum and has been an ICF-certified coach since 2018. She is offering reduced rates while completing her practicum under the supervision of Lurline Raposo, MA RCC-ACS BCRPT-S PC, and Dr. Sarah Dalton.
